Genora Young is a passionate champion of rural economic development, with a 25-year career dedicated to fostering growth and opportunity across Texas communities. As a certified Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED) and Business Retention Expansion Professional (BREP), she brings a wealth of expertise to her role at The Aegis Group.

Genora’s career began in Ft. Stockton, where she co-founded Texas’ first high-speed open road race, the Big Bend Open Road Race, a milestone for the state’s tourism industry. Her leadership extended through various roles, including District Manager for nii Communications, where she spearheaded business recruitment and retention efforts across Midland.

As the first Economic Development Director for the City of Eden, Genora launched a low-interest revolving loan program and established the Frontera Healthcare Network, providing critical healthcare services to underserved areas. Her impact in rural economic development continued as Director of Outreach and Special Programs at the Texas Department of Rural Affairs, where she advanced fire safety and alternative energy programs.

Genora’s dedication to revitalizing downtown areas is evident in her successful leadership of Downtown San Angelo, Inc., earning multiple prestigious awards, including Preserve America and the First Lady of Texas Treasures Awards. In Midland, she guided transformative projects like the Basin Burger House, Concho Resources expansion, Wall Street Lofts, and Susie’s South 40 Candy Factory.

As President and CEO of the Gonzales Economic Development Corporation, Genora led the largest economic development project in the city's history. Under her direction, a $50M expansion for BYK USA, Inc. was secured, defeating bids from Germany, China, and Kentucky. This project retained 146 jobs, added 20 new jobs, introduced advanced technology, and significantly boosted the local economy.
